Bend has enough dealerships that you can shop most major categories locally, but the old version of this guide had become cluttered with outdated addresses, businesses that are not actually dealerships and listings that have since changed. This version is a clean, current directory plus a practical buying guide for comparing the real deal - not just the advertised monthly payment.
Quick guide: Bend dealerships by brand
The most useful way to use this page is to start with the vehicle or dealer type you actually need. A dealership is not “best” for every buyer.

How this guide works: All Things Bend selects and organizes businesses editorially based on current local relevance. Dealerships cannot buy the “best” position. If sponsored placements, lead-generation partnerships or affiliate/referral links are added later, they will be clearly labeled and separated from the editorial guide.

Best for: shoppers specifically comparing Subaru, AWD crossovers, family/outdoor vehicles and Subaru certified pre-owned inventory.
Subaru of Bend is at 2060 NE Hwy 20 and currently offers new Subaru vehicles, used and certified pre-owned inventory, financing, service and parts.
Bend is a natural Subaru market, but that does not mean every Subaru is automatically the right Central Oregon vehicle. Compare ground clearance, tires, cargo needs, towing rating and actual winter-driving plans rather than buying on the AWD badge alone.

Luxury car dealerships in Bend
Bend has a surprisingly useful cluster of luxury-brand dealers. If you are shopping across brands, compare warranty/service logistics as closely as the vehicle. A luxury car that requires inconvenient out-of-area service may be less appealing than one with a strong local dealer relationship.

Used-car dealerships in Bend
A franchise dealer is not the only way to buy a used vehicle. Bend also has independent and used-focused dealerships worth comparing.
Auto Kings - Bend
Best for: used trucks, SUVs, AWD vehicles and specialty/pre-owned inventory.
Auto Kings currently operates its Bend sales location at 535 NE Savannah Dr. This corrects an outdated address that appeared in the old version of this guide. Its current site focuses on used trucks, SUVs and specialty vehicles and separately lists a service center on NE 3rd St.
Kendall Motorsport
Best for: higher-end pre-owned inventory and buyers interested in vehicle customization/upfitting.
Kendall Motorsport is at 1091 SE 3rd St and focuses on used vehicles with an enthusiast/customization angle.
Thomason Auto Group Bend
Best for: another independent used-car comparison before committing to a franchise-dealer used vehicle.
Thomason Auto Group Bend currently operates at 1080 SE 3rd St with used inventory and financing/trade-in tools.
What we removed from the old guide
The previous version mixed actual dealerships with car-detailing/car-wash businesses and included stale dealer identities and addresses. That is not useful to someone trying to buy a car.
This guide intentionally does not count detailing companies, ceramic-coating shops or car washes as car dealerships. We also removed unverified testimonial quotes. For a high-dollar purchase, the page should help you compare real current sellers, not pad the list.
How to compare the real price of a car
The single most useful phrase when contacting dealerships is:
“Please send me the itemized out-the-door price for this exact VIN/stock number.”
You want to see:
- negotiated vehicle selling price
- manufacturer incentives/rebates
- dealer discount, if any
- dealer documentation fee
- Oregon vehicle taxes/fees that apply to the transaction
- title/registration costs
- electronic registration or filing fees
- protection packages or accessories
- extended warranty/service contract, if selected
- trade-in value shown separately
- down payment shown separately
- financing rate/term shown separately
A lower monthly payment can simply mean a longer loan. Compare price first, financing second.
A simple Bend car-shopping plan
Step 1: Narrow to 2–4 vehicles
Do not start by driving every SUV in town. Pick the size, budget and actual use case first.
For Central Oregon, think about:
- daily commute vs. mountain driving
- passenger and car-seat needs
- dog/cargo space
- ski/bike/rack setup
- towing and payload
- ground clearance
- fuel economy
- garage dimensions
- EV charging access
Step 2: Price exact inventory online
Use actual stock numbers/VINs when asking for quotes. Trim names alone are not specific enough.
Step 3: Get financing before the dealership if you can
A preapproval from your bank or credit union gives you a benchmark. The dealer may beat it - great - but you will know what a competitive loan looks like before you are in the finance office.
Step 4: Test drive on roads that resemble your life
A five-minute loop does not tell you much. Check:
- visibility
- seat comfort
- road/wind noise
- acceleration onto Hwy 97 or Hwy 20
- parking/turning radius
- driver-assistance behavior
- cargo access
- car-seat fit if relevant
Step 5: Compare out-the-door numbers
Do not mix trade-in, financing and vehicle price into one fuzzy negotiation. Keep each number visible.
Buying a used car in Bend: the checklist
A used car can be a great value, but it deserves more diligence than a new vehicle.
Get the history report - then keep going
CARFAX/AutoCheck can reveal useful history, but a clean report does not prove the vehicle is mechanically perfect or accident-free.
Ask for service records
Records are particularly useful for vehicles with expensive scheduled maintenance, complex 4WD systems, turbocharged engines or known model-specific service items.
Get an independent pre-purchase inspection
For a non-CPO used vehicle, ask whether you can take it to an independent mechanic before purchase. If a seller refuses a reasonable inspection request, treat that as useful information.
Check tires carefully
For Bend driving, tires matter enormously. Four worn tires can turn a “deal” into an immediate four-figure expense, and AWD vehicles often have stricter tire-matching requirements.
Check:
- tread depth
- tire age/date code
- matching make/model across axles
- uneven wear
- winter rating if that matters to your use
Verify accessories you care about
Roof racks, hitch receivers, trailer-brake controllers, charging cables, second keys and cargo covers can be surprisingly expensive to add later.
AWD is not a substitute for winter tires
This deserves its own section in a Bend car guide. AWD helps the vehicle accelerate by sending power to more wheels. It does not magically shorten stopping distance on snow and ice.
If winter mountain driving is part of the plan, budget for appropriate tires and understand Oregon traction requirements. A front-wheel-drive car on excellent winter tires can be more confidence-inspiring in some conditions than an AWD vehicle on poor tires.
Buying an EV or plug-in hybrid in Bend
Before buying, answer three questions:
- Where will you charge most of the time? Home charging is usually the key convenience advantage.
- What will Level 2 installation cost at your house? Get an electrician quote if the electrical path is not obvious.
- How do your real trips line up with charging infrastructure? Think Mt. Bachelor days, Portland trips, highway travel and winter temperatures - not only EPA range.
Also check whether the exact vehicle and buyer qualify for any current federal, Oregon, utility or manufacturer incentives. Incentive rules change too frequently to rely on an old blog number.
Trading in vs. selling your car separately
Get more than one number before handing over the keys.
Useful comparison points:
- dealer trade-in offer
- another local dealer’s cash-purchase offer
- major online instant-offer services
- private-party market value if you are willing to sell it yourself
The easiest path is not always the highest-price path, so decide how much convenience is worth to you.
Dealer add-ons: decide before the finance office
Common optional products can include:
- extended service contracts
- prepaid maintenance
- paint/interior protection
- tire/wheel coverage
- GAP coverage
- anti-theft products
- accessories
Some may be useful for a particular buyer. The key is that you should understand the price, coverage, exclusions and cancellation terms before signing - and know whether the product is optional.
Car dealership FAQ
What are the main new-car dealerships in Bend?
Bend currently has franchise dealers for Subaru, Toyota, Ford, Mazda, Volkswagen, Honda, Hyundai, Chevrolet, Chrysler/Dodge/Jeep/Ram, Audi, BMW, Mercedes-Benz, Porsche and Volvo, among others represented in the local dealer groups.
Is Subaru of Bend still open?
Yes. Subaru of Bend is currently operating at 2060 NE Hwy 20.
Is Auto Kings still in Bend?
Yes, but its current Bend sales address is 535 NE Savannah Dr. Older listings using a North Highway 97 address are outdated.
Is Smolich Motors still the current Jeep/Ram dealership name?
The current authorized Chrysler/Dodge/Jeep/Ram dealership is Lithia Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram of Bend at 1865 NE Hwy 20. That is the current identity we use in this guide.
Should I buy used from a franchise dealership or an independent dealer?
Neither is automatically better. Franchise dealers can be useful for manufacturer-backed certified pre-owned programs. Independent dealers may have broader mixed-brand inventory. In either case, compare the vehicle condition, history, warranty, inspection policy, price and financing - not just the sign on the building.
How many dealerships should I contact?
For a common new vehicle, contacting two or three relevant dealers can help you understand the market. If only one Bend dealer represents the brand, compare against dealers in other Oregon markets online before assuming the local quote is the only reference point.
Keep this Bend dealer guide current
Dealership names, ownership, addresses and brands can change. We re-checked the businesses in this guide on September 3, 2026 against current dealership/manufacturer information and removed listings we could not justify as current Bend car dealerships.
If a dealer has moved, changed ownership or closed, contact All Things Bend and we will re-check it.
