Will it fit through the door?

Enter the appliance size from the spec sheet and your narrowest door or hallway. We'll tell you if it can get in.

Tip: measure the door with the door itself open, from jamb to jamb. Delivery crews can often remove fridge doors and handles to gain an inch or two.

Bend tips for buying appliances

Gas ranges at 3,600 feet

Bend sits around 3,623 feet. Many gas ranges, cooktops and dryers have high-altitude settings or orifice kits in the install instructions. Ask the installer to check them.

Garage fridges and freezers

Bend garages get very cold in winter and hot in summer. Not every fridge is rated for that, so check the model's garage or temperature range before you put one out there.

Snow, gravel and stairs

Tell the store about long gravel driveways, steep entries, stairs or snow. It can change the delivery crew, date or cost.

Gas or induction

Induction is fast, easy to clean and adds no combustion to indoor air, which matters on smoky summer days. Oregon's HEAR program lists up to $840 for income-qualified households, but it wasn't taking applications yet when we checked.

Dryer vents and lint

Long or crushed dryer vents waste energy and are a fire risk. When you replace a dryer, have the vent route checked and cleaned.

Measure the path in

Older Bend homes and remodels often have narrow doors and tight turns. Measure every door and hallway between the truck and the spot, not just the opening.

Out with the old

What to do with your old appliance

1

Ask for haul-away

Most stores will take your old appliance when they deliver the new one, sometimes for a fee. Ask if it must be disconnected first.

2

Donate it to the ReStore

The Bend Redmond Habitat ReStore accepts major appliances in clean, complete, working condition. Schedule a pick-up online or call 541-312-6709.

3

Take it to Knott Landfill

Knott Landfill Recycling and Transfer Facility is at 61050 SE 27th St. Call the recycling center at 541-388-1910 about appliances.
