Quick picks

What kind of wine night is it? Tap one.

Tasting rooms

Oregon and Washington wineries pour their own wines in Bend. Willamette Valley Vineyards and Amaterra post flights at $25–$35. Ermisch is Bend’s own urban winery, with any 3 pours for $18. The Box Factory and Old Mill have five rooms within a short walk.

Wine bars

For a wide pour list that isn’t tied to one winery: Viaggio (worldwide, Coravin pours), Good Drop (Old World and natural), Put A Cork In It (small Northwest producers) and Olvi (wine on tap with oysters).

Bottle shops

Good Drop and Viaggio are Bend’s two serious independent wine shops. Viaggio gives 15% off mixed cases. Good Drop delivers in Bend, Redmond and Sunriver. West Coast Provisions in NWX stocks low-intervention Oregon bottles.

Wineries & vineyards

Want to stand in a vineyard? Faith Hope & Charity in Terrebonne (daily) and Maragas in Culver (Wed–Sun) grow grapes in the high desert. Pair them with Smith Rock for a day out.

Date night

Dinner and wine in one stop: Willamette Valley Vineyards or Amaterra downtown, Bistro Colette on the Westside. Smaller and moodier: Viaggio, Olvi, or Good Drop’s private Speakeasy room.

Happy hour

Viaggio: $7 and $8 glasses, daily 3–5. Amaterra: $3 off glasses, daily 3–5. Willamette Valley Vineyards: $2 off glasses, Wed–Sat 3–5. Portello: $9 glasses all night Monday.

Patio & dogs

Evoke in the Old Mill says it’s pet friendly. Va Piano welcomes friendly dogs on its two seasonal patios (not inside). Out of town, Faith Hope & Charity has a big patio with mountain views.

Wine classes

FERM & fare holds ticketed Wednesday classes at 5:30 p.m. led by an Advanced Sommelier. Willamette Valley Vineyards sells classes and blind-tasting flights on Tock. Good Drop keeps a classes calendar.

Driving to the vineyards? Terrebonne and Culver are 30–45 minutes up Hwy 97. Pick a driver, or split one tasting and buy bottles to open at home.

Growing grapes in the high desert

Central Oregon is cold, dry and high, with freezes that can arrive in any month. That’s why most wine poured in Bend is made from grapes grown west of the Cascades or along the Columbia. The two vineyards you can visit handle it differently:

  • Cold-hardy hybrids. Faith Hope & Charity grows French-American hybrids bred for cold winters (Marquette, Frontenac, La Crescent, La Crosse, Frontenac Gris, Maréchal Foch, Léon Millot), drawing on research from the University of Wisconsin. Expect wines that taste different from Pinot Noir country.
  • Classic grapes, carefully sited. Maragas in Culver grows estate Riesling (three clones), Zinfandel, Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon and Petite Sirah.
  • Buying in fruit. Both supplement with other regions: Faith Hope & Charity sources Columbia Valley and Eola-Amity Hills grapes for its Merlot, Syrah and Pinot Noir.

Why it’s worth tasting

You can’t taste these wines anywhere else, and a vineyard with Cascade views is a very different afternoon from a downtown bar. Visit during harvest (Maragas picked its Petite Sirah Oct 8 this year) to see the crush.

Curious about local produce, too? See fresh produce and farms.

Wine regions you’ll see on Bend wine lists

Willamette Valley, OR

Pinot Noir and Chardonnay country, and the bulk of Bend’s pours. Sub-regions show up by name: Dundee Hills (Stoller, Ermisch, WVV), Ribbon Ridge and Chehalem Mountains (Ermisch, Amaterra), Eola-Amity Hills and Yamhill-Carlton (Laurel Ridge, Dominio IV).

Walla Walla Valley, WA/OR

Cabernet, Syrah and Bordeaux blends. Va Piano and Bledsoe pour only Walla Walla wine; WVV’s Pambrun and Ermisch’s Cabernet come from here too.

Red Mountain & Horse Heaven Hills, WA

Big, structured reds. Ermisch’s Cabernet Franc and Kiona (poured at Put A Cork In It) are from Red Mountain.

Columbia Gorge & Hood River

Evoke and Cathedral Ridge make wine in Hood River from Northwest fruit.

Southern Oregon

Warmer-climate reds: WVV’s Griffin Creek (Syrah, Malbec, Cabernet Franc) and its Umpqua Valley Père Ami blend.

The rest of the world

For Burgundy, Champagne, the Rhône, Italy, Spain and Argentina, go to Good Drop, Viaggio, FERM & fare or Ermisch’s import list.

Buying wine in Bend: tips

🧾 Buy bottles, skip the fee

Most tasting fees are waived with a purchase: 2 bottles at Willamette Valley Vineyards, $75 to go at Amaterra, 3 bottles ($50+) at Ermisch. Ermisch also takes $10 off bottles to go.

📦 Go by the case

Viaggio gives 15% off mixed cases and 20% off special-order cases. Willamette Valley Vineyards’ list shows 10% off 6 bottles and 15% off cases for members.

🍾 Corkage

Wine shops with bars usually don’t allow outside bottles. They let you open a bottle from their shelves for a fee ($10 Viaggio, $20 FERM & fare). Restaurants set their own BYOB rules, so call first.

🥡 Take the rest home

Under ORS 471.178, a business with a limited on-premises license has to let you take a partly finished bottle home if it was served with your meal (21+ and not visibly intoxicated).

🚚 Delivery and shipping

Good Drop delivers in Bend, Redmond and Sunriver and ships to most states. Clubs at most tasting rooms ship or hold your allocation for pickup; Put A Cork In It’s is pickup-only.

🛒 Everyday bottles

Grocery stores and liquor stores carry wine too. Our liquor stores guide covers 3rd Street Beverage and others with beer and wine departments.

Bend wine FAQ

Are there wineries in Bend, Oregon?

Yes, but mostly as tasting rooms. Ermisch Cellars on NW Lava Rd has made wine in Bend for over 20 years and calls itself Bend’s only urban winery. Most other Bend rooms (Stoller, Willamette Valley Vineyards, Va Piano, Evoke, Bledsoe, Laurel Ridge, Amaterra) pour wine made in the Willamette Valley, Hood River or Walla Walla. The closest vineyards you can visit are Faith Hope & Charity in Terrebonne and Maragas in Culver.

Can grapes grow in Central Oregon?

Some can. Faith Hope & Charity in Terrebonne grows 15 acres of cold-hardy French-American hybrids like Marquette, Frontenac and La Crescent, which handle hard high-desert freezes. Maragas in Culver grows estate Riesling and Zinfandel. Most wine poured in Bend is still made from grapes grown west of the Cascades or along the Columbia.

What’s the cheapest wine tasting in Bend?

Of the posted prices we found, Ermisch Winery’s flight is cheapest at any 3 wines for $18. Viaggio Wine Merchant pours $7 and $8 glasses every day from 3 to 5 p.m., and Portello pours every glass of wine for $9 on Mondays. Free tastings pop up too, like Viaggio’s free distributor tasting nights.

How much does a wine flight cost in Bend?

Posted flights run from $18 (Ermisch, any 3) to $25–$35 at Willamette Valley Vineyards and $30–$35 at Amaterra. Most fees are waived if you buy bottles: 2 bottles at Willamette Valley Vineyards, $75 to go at Amaterra, or 3 bottles totaling $50 at Ermisch.

What’s a good wine bar for a date night in Bend?

Downtown, Willamette Valley Vineyards and Amaterra both pair full dinner menus with flights, and Good Drop has a private Speakeasy room. On the Westside, Viaggio and Olvi (wine and oysters) are smaller and quieter. Stoller in the Box Factory has live music Thursdays and Saturdays.

Can I bring my dog or kids to a Bend wine bar?

Evoke Winery in the Old Mill says it is pet friendly and family-friendly (minors with an adult). Va Piano welcomes friendly dogs on its uncovered seasonal patios but not inside. Viaggio allows kids while you shop, not at the bar, and Testimony in Redmond doesn’t allow minors in the bar or on the patio. Faith Hope & Charity describes itself as family-friendly. Everywhere else, ask first.

Where can I take a wine class in Bend?

FERM & fare runs Wednesday 5:30 p.m. classes led by Advanced Sommelier Dave Bodi on regions like Burgundy’s Côte de Beaune and Italy’s Valpolicella. Willamette Valley Vineyards sells ticketed classes on Tock, such as a blind-tasting flight. Good Drop keeps an events and classes calendar.

Can I bring my own bottle to a Bend wine bar?

Usually not to wine shops with bars. Viaggio and FERM & fare both say no outside bottles. If you buy a bottle in their shop and open it there, Viaggio charges $10 corkage and FERM & fare $20. Restaurants set their own corkage policies, so call ahead.

Is there a wine festival in Bend?

Cork & Barrel is Central Oregon’s biggest wine event, held the third weekend of July with winemaker dinners, a tasting and a gala benefiting KIDS Center. The 2027 dates are July 15–17, for its 15th anniversary.

Where can I get wine near Sunriver or Tumalo?

We didn’t find a dedicated wine bar or tasting room in Sunriver or Tumalo. Good Drop Wine Shoppe in downtown Bend delivers to Sunriver, and the Old Mill District tasting rooms are the closest on the south side of Bend.

How we checked this guide

We found Bend-area wine businesses through map listings, then checked each one on its own website on October 23, 2026: hours, addresses, what they pour, posted prices from their menus and wine lists, clubs, events and rules about dogs and kids. Each card links its sources. Where a site leaves something out (like Stoller’s flight prices), we say so instead of guessing. Places whose own sites say they’re closed, or that we couldn’t confirm, are listed under “Couldn’t confirm.”
