Choose by logistics before aesthetics

Every venue here is pretty. What separates them is where guests sleep, who cooks, how far everyone drives after the last dance, and what happens if it’s 95 degrees or smoky.

If most guests are staying in Bend

Stay in town and nobody needs a shuttle plan. McMenamins Old St. Francis is walkable to downtown bars, Riverhouse handles big lists, Tetherow is resort-style 10 minutes out, and the park district’s Aspen Hall and Hollinshead Barn are the budget picks.

In town: 4 venues + Tetherow

If you want a contained destination weekend

Put the ceremony, reception and beds on one property: Sunriver, Juniper Preserve, Brasada Ranch, Black Butte Ranch or FivePine. Expect room-block minimums in summer (Juniper requires 10 rooms a night June–Sept; Black Butte has a $4,000–$8,500 lodging minimum).

Resorts: 6 venues

If scenery and privacy matter most

Go to the forest and take over the place: House on Metolius (one wedding at a time, 42 beds), Lake Creek Lodge (cabins and a pool) or a Suttle Lodge buyout. Or go big and open at Faith Hope & Charity near Smith Rock. Budget for a guest shuttle either way.

Forest & ranch: 5 venues

Central Oregon wedding venues, one by one

In Bend first, then resorts, then the forest and the high desert. Every fact and price is from the venue’s own site.

What a Bend wedding venue costs

Most resorts quote by proposal, but enough Central Oregon venues post numbers to sketch the range. The big swing is whether food and drink are bundled with the venue.

The national yardstick

The Knot’s 2026 Real Weddings Study (couples married in 2025) put the average wedding at $34,200 and the Oregon average at $23,000. The average reception venue cost $12,900 and catering averaged $80 a person, with 117 guests at about $292 each.

What moves the price

  • Month. Black Butte’s weekend site fee is $14,500 June–October and $7,000 November–April; park-district halls drop $300–$360 in winter.
  • Day of the week. Black Butte’s weekday fee is $4,000 less than a summer weekend; Juniper Preserve discounts Sundays.
  • Who cooks. Bring-your-own venues (Aspen Hall, Hollinshead, Faith Hope & Charity) have low rent but you hire catering, bar, rentals and staff.
  • Room blocks. Resorts require them in summer; your guests’ stays count toward the minimum at Black Butte.
  • Service charges. Juniper Preserve and Black Butte add 24% to food and drink.

Local knowledge

Central Oregon planning tips venues won’t put in the brochure

Plan for a 40-degree swing

Bend’s normal July high is about 84°F and the low about 49°F (NOAA 1991–2020). A 5 p.m. ceremony in the sun and a 9 p.m. dance floor are different climates. Ask what heaters and covered space are included: Black Butte includes deck heaters; at the park halls you rent your own.

Write the smoke trigger down

July through September weddings need an indoor plan big enough for everyone, not a tent “if needed.” Juniper Preserve’s indoor hold only covers parties under 140. Decide in advance which air-quality reading moves you inside.

Mind the 10 p.m. line

Juniper Preserve, Sunriver’s outdoor sites and The Suttle Lodge end outdoor music at 10 p.m. Inside Bend city limits, nighttime noise limits start at 10 p.m.; going later outdoors takes a city noise variance applied for 45 days ahead ($255). Plan an indoor after-party.

Winter roads are part of the venue

Sisters, Black Butte, Suttle Lake and Camp Sherman sit over 3,000 feet, and the Santiam Pass side gets real snow. For November–April dates, send guests ODOT TripCheck links and plan shuttles with traction tires.

Book the shuttle when you book the venue

Forest and ranch venues are 30–60 minutes from most hotels, and the last ride home is when it matters. Juniper Preserve posts $120 per person each way for transfers; see our airport and shuttle guide.

Watch the 2027 calendar

Hollinshead Barn takes no rentals July 1–December 31, 2027 (park project), House on Metolius only had select 2027 weekends left, and Suttle’s lakefront buyouts only run September–May.

Getting married in a park, on a lake or at Smith Rock

A ceremony at Sparks Lake or in Drake Park can cost almost nothing, but each landowner has rules. Plan the reception at a venue.

Deschutes National Forest

Groups of 75 or more need a free non-commercial group use permit; under 75 don’t. Weddings can also be authorized as one-day special uses.

Popular: Sparks Lake, Tumalo Falls area, Cascade Lakes · Rules

Bend parks (BPRD)

Park events run April 15–Oct. 15. Bigger or longer rentals are “expanded” (from $60 for 0–30 people). Alcohol needs pre-approval and insurance; amplified sound up to 65 dB at the edge with approval; no charcoal, candles or vehicles in the park.

Popular: Drake Park, Pioneer Park, Shevlin Park shelters · Rules

Smith Rock State Park

No permit needed for everyday visits, but wedding groups are asked to contact park staff about a special-event permit. Day-use parking is $10 a car ($12 out of state).

Popular: Rim day-use area, Crooked River · Rules

Don’t forget the license: Deschutes County charges $55, both of you sign in person at 1300 NW Wall St., and Oregon has a 3-day waiting period. Details in our planning guide.

Seven questions to ask every venue

  1. What is the real weather and smoke backup, and does it fit our whole guest count seated?
  2. Who can cater and pour? In-house only, an approved list, or anyone licensed? Can we bring our own wine or cake (and what are the fees)?
  3. What time does amplified music stop, indoors and out, and is there a late-night option?
  4. What’s included (tables, chairs, linens, dance floor, heaters, staff, a coordinator) and what do we rent?
  5. What are the minimums (food and beverage, room block, lodging) and the service charge?
  6. When can vendors load in and when must everything be out? Is the property ours alone that day?
  7. What’s the deposit and cancellation schedule if smoke, snow or a road closure stops the day?

Bend wedding venue questions

How much does a wedding venue cost in Bend?

From the prices venues post: a Bend Park & Recreation District hall runs $1,200–$2,760 for a weekend day (Hollinshead Barn and Aspen Hall), you bring the caterer. Resorts charge more and bundle food: Black Butte Ranch’s 2027 site fees run $5,000 in winter to $14,500 on a summer weekend plus an $18,000 food and beverage minimum, and Juniper Preserve says couples average $120–$180 per guest on food and drink. The Knot’s 2026 study put the average U.S. reception venue at $12,900.

What is the cheapest wedding venue in Bend?

The park district’s rentals are the lowest posted prices: Hollinshead Barn is $1,200–$1,620 for a weekend day and Aspen Hall is $2,000–$2,760, depending on season and whether you live in the district. For a small ceremony, a Deschutes National Forest site needs no permit for groups under 75, and Bend parks rent shelters for small groups from $60.

Which Bend wedding venues let you bring your own caterer?

Aspen Hall and Hollinshead Barn (park district) and Faith Hope & Charity Vineyards in Terrebonne let you choose your caterer. Resorts and lodges, including Juniper Preserve, Black Butte Ranch, Sunriver, The Suttle Lodge and Lake Creek Lodge, use their own kitchens.

Which venues have lodging for guests?

Tetherow, Juniper Preserve, Brasada Ranch, Sunriver Resort, Black Butte Ranch, FivePine, Riverhouse and McMenamins Old St. Francis have rooms on site. House on Metolius sleeps 42, Lake Creek Lodge gives couples priority on its 14 historic cabins, and The Suttle Lodge offers whole-property buyouts.

Can we get married in winter in Bend?

Yes, and it’s cheaper. Black Butte Ranch’s weekend site fee drops from $14,500 in summer to $7,000 November through April, Juniper Preserve has a $2,200 winter package, and the park district’s halls are cheaper November to March. The Suttle Lodge only does lakefront buyouts September to May. Plan for snow on the roads to Sisters and Camp Sherman.

Do we need a permit to get married outdoors near Bend?

On the Deschutes National Forest, groups of 75 or more need a free non-commercial group use permit; smaller groups don’t. Bend parks require a rental for events, and alcohol needs pre-approval. At Smith Rock State Park, wedding groups should contact park staff about a special-event permit.

What time do Bend wedding venues end the party?

Many end outdoor music at 10 p.m.: Juniper Preserve, Sunriver Resort’s outdoor sites and The Suttle Lodge all post 10 p.m. Hollinshead Barn’s rental ends at 10 p.m. and Aspen Hall’s at 11 p.m. Black Butte Ranch sells a 10–11 p.m. late-night add-on, and Suttle offers a late-night pizza party.

How far ahead should we book?

For June to September Saturdays, plan on 12 to 18 months. House on Metolius only hosts a handful of weddings a season and was already booking 2028 when we checked. The park district takes Aspen Hall and Hollinshead Barn reservations up to 18 months ahead, and note that Hollinshead is closed to rentals July through December 2027.
